VTE risk in adult medical inpatients; threshold≥4.
Padua · Thromboembolic risk
Principle
Assess venous thromboembolic risk in adults hospitalised for a medical condition.
Scope
Adult medical hospitalisation, excluding pregnancy. The score does not cover surgery or diagnose DVT or PE. Prevention also requires assessment of bleeding risk, contraindications and context.
Interpretation limits
VTE risk during medical hospitalisation; neither individual percentage nor automatic prescription.
Formula and logic
Sum of 11 weighted criteria: 3,3,3,3,2,1,1,1,1,1,1. Total 0–20; high risk from 4.
Interpretation
- 0–3

- 4–20
