BISAP — Acute pancreatitis
Initial prognosis of confirmed pancreatitis; five criteria over24h.
BISAP — Acute pancreatitis
Principle
Initial prognostic stratification of confirmed acute pancreatitis.
Scope
Adult with diagnosed acute pancreatitis. Data from the first 24 h of hospitalisation, including the emergency department; worst laboratory and vital-sign measurements in that window.
Interpretation limits
In-hospital mortality prognosis after acute pancreatitis diagnosis; not a diagnosis or automatic disposition or critical care decision. The total 0–5 does not supply an individual probability. The study imputed missing data as normal; this capsule refuses that imputation and produces no incomplete total, without prescribing investigations to complete the score. Do not confuse BUN and total urea.
Formula and logic
BUN > 25 mg/dL + altered mental status + SIRS + age > 60 years + pleural effusion: one point per criterion.
